This past October, Kevin and Marta, owners of Noble Coyote, participated in a 10 mile fundraising hike at Zion National Park with Meat Fight’s Meat Hike. Meat Hike is a program that takes a team of people living with MS on bucket-list hiking adventures. We created Trail Magic as a fundraising vehicle for Meat Hike. Through sales of Trail Magic, and the support of our amazing customers, we were able to raise $4000 to support this important program. In honor of our fellow Zion hikers, inspiring warriors living with MS, we made the decision to include Trail Magic in our year-round coffee offerings.
What is Meat Fight? One of our favorite local non-profits! From their website : “So glad you asked. Meat Fight, Inc. is a nonprofit that hosts BBQ-fueled events to support people living with multiple sclerosis. We’re dedicated to helping people living with MS stay active while supporting research for a cure.” The Meat Fight community is big (they’ve helped people nation-wide!), loving, supportive, wonderful, and FUN. In fact, they call their work Funlanthropy.
Now let’s tell you about this awesome coffee! Trail Magic is a blend of Colombia and Peru Geisha. This blend is reminiscent of a tasty trail mix. Sweet flavors of chocolate, honey, and cashews dance along with delicious acidic notes of dried fruit. This is a vibrant, well-balanced cup of coffee that is a perfect companion for a good wander in the woods.
“Trail magic” is a term the thru-hiker community uses to describe unexpected acts of kindness and generosity for hikers on long-distance trails. We felt this was the perfect name to honor the kindness and generosity of our customers’ support for small business + a great cause!
What else has Meat Fight accomplished? Meat Fight, Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit, raised over $2 million for the National MS Society, and developed programs both to assist research and to support athletes across the nation living with MS in endurance efforts like cycling events, marathons, triathlons, and more. They also have an MS Research endowment with UT Southwestern Medical Center. Meat Fight donates bikes to people living with MS. Each bike package costs $1,000, and the funds from their events help provide the equipment for Meat Bike athletes with MS to succeed in endurance challenges like the Dallas Marathon and the Texas 70.3 (half Ironman).
