Brian Leahy, owner of Korgua Estate, is a second generation coffee producer. Leahy’s father first explored the Western Highlands region in the 1930’s ,and established Korgua Estate on the Kuta Ridge of the Waghi Valley as one of the very first coffee farms in the area. The farm was purposefully located in a buffer zone, so that coffee producers from rival tribes are able to market their coffees on neutral ground.

95% of the coffee that is grown in PNG comes from the Western Highlands region. This area is textbook prime land for growing coffee which creates the heavy body and savory, sweet flavors that make it famous. Coffee from PNG is graded using a unique matrix that considers screen size, bean shape, defect count, and color in addition to aroma and cup quality. A/X is the highest quality available. We are very excited to offer this special coffee!

This is a sweet cup of coffee with a buttery smooth mouthfeel. As this cools, you’ll taste a complex, balanced coffee waiting underneath the surface (if your cup lasts that long, anyway!). Look for big, full flavor notes with this brew. We taste blackberry jam, fig cookies, and cake frosting.
